Janome Sewing Machine Consumer Watch

In August 2009 Janome America produced a video for use in dealers' stores.

The intent of the video was to focus on the quality of Janome machines compared to some of their competitors and to highlight a real problem that a number of their dealers and customers have observed related to the diminishing quality of some machines being sold primarily in the lower priced categories of sewing machines.

The video was intended for dealers to use in their stores as a part of their sales demonstration. The message presented in the video is a true and an accurate representation of actual events.

You can watch the actual video on YouTube here, although it does require a fairly fast computer and internet connection.

The gist of the video is in these 2 pictures. The first shows an unnamed brand of sewing machine that has no internal frame and where the components are merely attached to the outer plastic shell of the machine. This means that there is no rigid support for the high speed movement which is inherent in a sewing machine.

This second picture shows the aluminium die-cast frame that can be found in even the most inexpensive Janome. The outer shell is just that - a shell - and not part of the structure of the machine. This picture shows the die-cast aluminium frame in a Janome which provides the strength and rigidity necessary for the precise action of the sewing machine needle.
